Nothing lasts longer than temporary

A French saying states the following: Nothing lasts longer than temporary.
This deterministic relationship also holds true with human beings. All masterpieces and human achievement have limited validity and duration; models such as this one are not without exception.
However, many of us have difficulty in accepting this deterministic condition; that we and our deeds cannot be eternal. Like eager and self-centered children at the beach, many of us work with “the wet sand”, building extravagant sandcastles. People have built many sandcastles, hoping that they could resist the ebb and flow of the tide.
Although we have created these works trusting in the duration of the moment, we must realize that we build them in a troubled area which is the human PRESENT, where all human creations are temporary. We hope that perhaps this time we will be successful in constructing something permanent. It is precisely our maintaining that we want that which cannot be obtained, which accelerates that which we attempt to avoid, the destruction and dissolving of these creations.
Many will endeavor to construct protective ramparts and embankments around the sandcastles in an attempt to obstruct the tide. Even worse, while they are constructing their embattlements, they are at the same time destroying the castle from the inside, through assuming a secteric, esoterically, elitist attitude, paralyzed with inner rivalry. In their futile attempt to form permanency in this ever changing world of reality, they often forget the original characteristic of their creations; they can exist only in a limited period of time.
In our area (human search for meaning) the decay of many theories begin with the decay of the exponents themselves. Many of them become corrupted by their ungovernable vanity. Their students contribute to the decay of the theory by gradually turning into cultists, possessed by fixed ideas and the belief that their view of human life can once and for all elucidate the fundamental questions of human life.
The fundamental questions we ask ourselves have persisted but the answers and their solutions will keep changing as long as there is intelligent life following its mission.
